We recently celebrated our 30th anniversary!
It's been a tradition since 1980, a place to shop and meet your friends, a place where knowledge & good advice is a given and they seem to have everything - it's known as Redmond's Home Hardware at the Crossroads in Upper Tantallon.
Wayne Redmond, a well known local plumber for many years, opened the original hardware store at this location in 1980. It later became the anchor store for the mall he built in 1987. Wayne's vision was the start of development in the Tantallon area as it preceded the Hubley Centre at exit 5. The store has grown along with the community and is now over 4,000 sq. ft. with a separate Benjamin Moore paint store located in the same plaza.
Wayne's daughter, Shelley, started working at the store when she was only 13 years old and is perhaps best known for her expertise in finding anything you'll ever need in a hardware store.
A few years later Sue Smith joined the team and eventually became manager of the Benjamin Moore store when it opened in the fall of 1999. Wayne sold both stores to local resident John Glover in 2000. Three years later John and Shelley were married. They own and operate the store together under the Home Hardware banner.
